Public Book Club: The Summer of 1787
Do you love reading, and need somewhere to share that “just finished a book” energy? Come join our Virtual Public Book Club!
Created to foster intentional and meaningful conversations related to the exhibitions and art at the museum, the Book Club connects museum guests, volunteers, and staff in a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment. Each month, we’ll meet in the museum library to read and discuss a recent work connected to the museum’s mission and artworks, and make space for everyone to engage in critical conversations and sharing.
This month, we’re discussing David O. Stewart’s The Summer of 1787: The Men Who Invented the Constitution, in which Stewart discusses the birth of the US Constitution and all its founding creators—including Alexander Hamilton, Gouverneur Morris, and Edmund Randolph. The book takes us into the room where it all happened, through a four-month process packed with colorful and fascinating characters both known and forgotten. Museum staff members can pick up their free book copy at the library front desk.
We hope to see you there!
Free, tickets required.
